Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende Patti SmithPatti Smith, geboren 1946 in Chicago, Rockmusikerin, Dichterin, Performance-Künstlerin, Malerin und Fotografin. Patti Smiths Story über ihre Anfangsjahre als junge Poetin in New York City ist sehr lesenswert. Detailliert beschreibt sie die Abnabelung von zuhause, die ersten Schritte ins unbekannte Großstadtleben und die schicksalshaften Begegnungen mit inzwischen historischen Persönlichkeiten der damaligen New Yorker Künstlerszene, die ihre spätere Karriere als Autorin, Song-Schreiberin und Musikerin prägten. Im Zentrum steht das Auf und Ab ihrer ersten großen Liebe. Ein autobiografisches Buch, das man einmal angefangen hat, nicht wieder so schnell aus der Hand legt.
Mir imponierte der poetische Schreibstil und die bildreiche Sprache der Autorin. Ich fühlte mich in das Leben im NYC der 60er und 70er Jahre ein und lebte eine Weile im Chelsea Hotel. Ich nahm Teil, an den irdischen Ereignissen vieler Ikonen der Künstlerszene dieser Zeit.
Die Lebensgeschichte von Patty Smith ist gleichermaßen tragisch wie amüsant und auf jeden Fall fesselnd. Ich kannte die Sängerin nicht einmal als ich das Buch bestellte. Angesprochen hat mich vorallem das Cover und der Titel "Just Kids". Wer gerne in die Welt der 60/70iger Jahre eintaucht, für den ist dieses Buch genau richtig.
